5 Stars Great Resource if looking for a very structured plan for your best body
I am a 31 year old mom of 2 who has been very involoved in fitness all of my life. I had trouble getting my body back to my pre baby wieght (5-10 pounds)and wanted a straight forward book for weight training to get more definition. I went to a trainer 2x’s/week for 2 months and was nervous about continuing on my own. I purchased this book as a way to continue on my journey. I have to say I noticed a huge difference in my body after a few weeks following this program mainly b/c I was not following a diet plan when I was seeing the trainer. This book helps you incorporate diet and weight training/cardio regardless of your fitness level. i actually got rid of my “mom pouch” and had abs again!
This is a great resource for every level from the beginner who wants to dip their feet into weight lifting, all the way to the intermediate athlete who wants to push their body a little harder.
To get the most out of this book and your results, you need to be willing to incorporate all aspects of the plan. I promise you the results will be all the motivation you need. I am able to follow this at home when I don’t have time to go to the gym as well as at the gym. You can follow just the training elements but I found the diet portion very easy as in incorparates a lot of the other popular diets out there into one. The goal of this book is to keep your body confused so that you don’t plateau at any point of your training.
This is truley been a “bible” that I always go back to when I am serious about getting into shape.

Several weeks ago I bought this book as well as another workout book to jumpstart my summer slimdown. I am a cardio junkie and I used to work out every single day of the week. I’d run for at least an hour a day and on the weekends my long runs would sometimes get up to 19 miles. You’d think this would make for a beautiful body, right? WRONG. All that cardio didn’t do a whole lot besides leave me exhausted.
Then I got the BSB for Women. The first several chapters explain how to slowly change your diet, why lifting weights works, and just how much cardio you should be doing. There are several detailed 6 week workout programs. I started the program that can be done with just dumbbells in the comfort of my home and not in the gym. I am 3 days away from completing the 6 weeks and I feel amazing. I don’t own a scale so I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost, but I feel “tighter,” and my clothes are fitting more loosely. I also feel really strong. I never got that from all the running I was doing.
I have also followed several weightlifting programs in the past. I know people say that women can’t get bulky because they lack testosterone, but trust me, I have a tendency to bulk up, noticeably so. I always quit lifting because being bulky feels unfeminine to me. I was really wary of starting this strength program for fear I’d get big again but I stuck with it and am so glad I did. I have finally found a workout that tones my body instead of packing on the muscle.
I can’t believe that I enjoy my weightlifting days more than my cardio days now!

Great book. Easy to read. The workout routines are plainly laid out and easy to follow. I just got this book to tone up after my second child and it has definitely helped. I don’t follow the diet suggestions but the workouts are great just the same. There is a section in the book for women who are nursing while using this routine which is a great addition that I haven’t seen in many other books. I highly reccomend this book.

Enjoyable read especially if you are beginning a gym routine. I appreciated the description, pictures and explanations of using correct form for beginners as this has worked well with some informal coaching.
