Vegan Fitness Built Naturally with Brendan Brazier Tonya Kay and Robert Cheeke

Starring Robert Cheeke, Natural Bodybuilder, Brendan Brazier, Professional Ironman Triathlete and Tonya Kay, Professional Dancer, this feature-length movie shows how vegans live, eat, train and compete. This movie is ideal for anyone interested in living a healthy lifestyle – vegans, vegetarians, athletes, and anyone who is concerned about health and fitness.

The movie features the life of three successful vegan athletes; Natural Bodybuilder Robert Cheeke, Professional Ironman Triathlete Brendan Brazier, and Professional Dancer Tonya Kay. The movie covers all aspects of their lives including their nutrition programs, their training programs, and their vegan fitness lifestyles, how they promote veganism, what a typical day is like for them, and how they became successful in their chosen sport.

The movie also covers live competition, intense training, vegan shopping, a vegan potluck, behind the scenes of contest preparation, and much more.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars A Good Start
This video is pretty informative and good for people just starting out,but if you have been vegan it dosnt really give too much new advice, most of its common sense (ie dont eat a lot of junk food even if it is vegan) I also think Tonya while well meaning is sort of a stereotype a lot of people have about vegans (nomad-hippies etc) and this image makes a lot of people unwilling to try veganism……all in all this film is pretty much for people who arejust starting out

4 Stars Great Counterpart for Thrive Diet
This is a d.i.y. take on veganism for athletes. Keep that in mind- the focus is more on athletes and their training and how veganism works for them. Hence the title Vegan Fitness.

It’s fairly comprehensive, and a great companion to Thrive Diet. You see them shopping, cooking, and working out. It’s for converts seeking practical fitness and dietary advice. Given the severe lack of that information, this is a great place to start.

Echo Park

November 28th, 2009 by Bodybuilder

Echo Park

“I love that everyone is really an actress, is really a singer,” confesses the ever hopeful Susan Dey, a bartender turned singing strip-o-gram still waiting for her big break. So, apparently, does director Robert Dornhelm, an Austrian who brings a fresh eye and an easygoing sympathy to a familiar story. Dey’s new roommate, pizza delivery guy/budding songwriter Tom Hulce, is hopelessly in love with her while she falls madly into bed with her delightfully deluded duplex neighbor Michael Bowen, an Austrian bodybuilder (”body sculptor,” he’s quick to correct) waiting to become the next Schwarzenegger. The modesty of this 1986 American indie is infectious: they may never get their break, but the little family they make will provide the support they need along the way. Cheech Marin costars as Bowen’s training-gym boss, and that’s Cassandra (”Elvira”) Peterson as the gym receptionist. –Sean Axmaker

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Incredibly offbeat, interesting, good lines, very funny.
I’ve only seen this thing once, but loved it. I cannot believe that a movie this good isn’t released on video.

5 Stars A fun movie filled with quirky characters.
Echo Park is an extremely funny movie, filled with some classic humor presented by a trio of truly quirky characters. Perhaps Susan Dey’s best movie of all time! The character that is an Arnold Schwarzenegger wannabe is terrificly funny! This film is more timely now than ever!

4 Stars I Like Echo Park – the neighborhood
The movie itself isn’t bad, but what I like best is the locale. Echo Park is a neighborhood that, while it might not be the safest place, has a lot of character. I also enjoyed watching a younger Tom Hulce work with an offbeat script. The ending is too abrupt and the movie gets rather bizarre at times, but at least it is unique. And it is more unique in a good, rather than bad sense.

101 Ways to Work Out on the Ball Sculpt Your Ideal Body with Pilates Yoga and More

You can finally figure out what to do with your exercise ball using Elizabeth Gillies book 101 Ways to Work Out on the Ball. Elizabeth Gillies is a fitness expert who has starred in many exercise videos and books including Exercise Balls for Dummies. 101 Ways to Work Out on the Ball is a 176 page book that features 101 different exercises you can do on the exercise ball to strengthen and tone your muscles. The book features beginning, intermediate and advanced levels so you can work at a comfortable level. Find many fun and effective ways to use your exercise ball with this great book from Elizabeth Gillies.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Pretty good
This book has colored pictures that are large and easy to follow. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. The exercises are labeled as beginner, all levels, advanced, etc. There are variations to many exercises, which is great. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

3 Stars Wish I actually used this
What I really want is a poster that I can look at while I’m on the ball. It’s difficult to get the hang of the moves when you’re holding the book. That said, she has some great ideas of how to use the ball. Some are a little gratuitous, though, and you don’t need the ball for them.

5 Stars Play, not work!
Liz Gillies goes into a bit of background on the theoretical stuff. Although most of the exercises are not new, what stands out is the sense of fun she has when working out with the exercise ball, making it less work & more play. This makes me want to do more of them, & more often. This, coupled with exercises’ effectiveness, has already made a difference in my posture & the way I carry myself, after only 3 weeks of 3x a week exercise. Thanks Liz. About that cat stance on the ball… I did it! Only for less than a second though, but in time…

2 Stars Not Exactly What I had Expected
I own a few other “101 way to” books and this one disappointed. I expected new exercises to help me with my job as an aerobics instructor, but it failed to do so. Instead a stretch with the ball was labeled as an exercise.

4 Stars on the ball pilates
Great book for anyone who has become tired of the same old thing with Pilates. Used book in great condition
